Starting out with a client base of local businesses and non-profit organizations, over the past six years we've grown to also serve large organizations such as Girl Scouts Heart of NJ, Cornell Council for the Arts and Revelwood. While receiving his degree in Industrial Design from Carnegie Mellon, Ian began his long journey to web entrepreneur. College floormate and friend Ed Knittel taught Ian the building blocks of HTML coding. After graduating in 1999, Ian was thrown into the dot com boom and worked at Toysrus.com’s in-house web design department developing web banners, promotional pages, e-blasts and fully interactive sites. Due to the dot com crash and Toyrus.com’s merger with Amazon, Ian found himself at the doors of MGT Design, an agency based in central New Jersey known for their work with Bed, Bath & Beyond and Chubb Insurance. Ian’s skills set grew to incorporate the creation of printed materials. After four years of helping Fortune 500 companies at MGT Design, Ian decided to embark on a freelance career working at agencies such as Up Design and Smith Design before the creation of Lform in 2005. After trying the home office environment, Ian quickly moved to shared office space with Madlab, an architectural firm in the Madison Building (427 Bloomfield Ave., Montclair, NJ). A year later he moved into his own private commercial office in a restored Victorian house (38 Park Street, Montclair, NJ). As work became more abundant and the space no longer sufficient, Ian hired additional hands and moved a few blocks away (89 Walnut Street, Montclair, NJ). Within a 3-year timespan, the team grew from 1 to 4 people. Now Lform resides in an open-air 800 square foot facility in Verona, NJ, complete with kitchen and parking.
